Using up my scraps part 2

27th June, 2009 at 8:15 pm (Uncategorized)

With some of the bigger scraps from old kits that I’ve got in my stash, I decided to make a couple of LOs.  One double and one single.  They look a little bit like this…

Scraps came from: Bazzill, Bazzill Swiss Dots, Jilly Bean Soup, MME Laundry Line, Crate Paper, Fancy Pants.  I also used from Journalling Tickets.

Using up my scraps

27th June, 2009 at 7:18 pm (Uncategorized)

In this world of waste and want of economising, it’s always good to use up our leftovers isn’t it?

Claire’s bagged herself the new, gorgeous Ruby Rocket kit to play with this month, so I’ve been busy using up my leftovers from my papers that I’ve got and have made these cards….

Don’t throw your scraps away, USE THEM, you only need little bits to make a card.

Come back and show us what you’ve managed to make with your scraps.

24th June, 2009 at 10:13 pm (Uncategorized)

Hi there all,

Hope the week is going well for everyone, only two days to the weekend! I’ve been playing with the vintage Ruby Rock-it papers this week so here is the second page from the range. I just love these papers they go so well with the vintage pick ( like the last page) as well beach and summer picks. I could also see some of you very organised crafters doing some very nice Christmas pages or cards with them too .. that sounds like a challenge LOL !!

well i think i need to have a go with the Kindred Spirit range next

Love Claire xx

A page from the retreat

24th June, 2009 at 6:00 pm (Uncategorized)

Thought I’d share a page with you that I did on our recent retreat…. very rare it is for me to actually get to sit and ‘play’ with my stash on retreats in between organising and socialising!!

I love it, as soon as I picked up the pack of Puffy Brads Roll n Go from Around the Block, this idea just popped into my head, and took me about ten minutes to do!!

IMG_2919

I’d been playing with my camera that day and trying to be all arty-farty with it (but lets face it, about 1 in every 1000 of my photos is not bad!! lol) and was quite pleased with this picture, so didn’t want to do much else with it.  I think there is only one of these roll and go’s left, the rest all sold on the retreat….

And I do absolutely LOVE that purple dotted swiss… it’s definitely one of my most favourite products in recent months (the dotted swiss I mean, not just the colour) the fact that it’s textured and still the same price as normal bazzill – perfect!!!  And just as good as the more expensive embossed cardstock IMO!

Hope you’re enjoying your week!

COMPETITION!! WIN WIN WIN….Bella! & Ruby Rock-It goodies….

19th June, 2009 at 9:38 pm (Shop info and promotions)

Whilst the shop is closed, we thought we would run a little competition for you all….. and of course to tempt you to take part, we’re offering a goody bag of brand new Ruby Rock-It goodies for the winner…

So:

Here at Indigo Mill, we are all for scrapbook kits.  Providing co-ordinated stash and great value for money, in current penny pinching times, they are definitely the way to go.  And whilst we love to put together our own kits for you, why overlook the fact that most manufacturers have already done the hard work for you!?

Our favourite manufacturers for collection kits are Crate Paper and My Minds Eye, always gorgeous papers, perfectly balanced with scrummy embellishments and/or alphabets.  Recent releases have included Bella Bella & Grow from My Minds Eye, and Orbit, Lillian and Little Sprout from Crate Paper.

Our competition for you is to show us just how many projects you can create from one collection pack…. using the odd extra embellishment here and there, and of course your basic tool kit, how much can you really get from one kit? (No limit on plain cardstock!!!!  It’s a necessity and a way of life!)  Lets see just how good the value for money is.

We gave Claire the ‘Grow Kit’ from My Minds Eye 5 days before the retreat, and challenged her to make as many projects as she could before the retreat.  The kit contains:

  • 9 sheets of 12×12 cardstock paper
  • 1 co-ordinating accessory sheet

And here is what she came up with:

056

057

059

064

I think she did pretty well in only 5 days!!

So – think you can do better from one kit????  Why not give it a go, and to help you on your way, we’ve popped between 20% and 30% discount on all our paper kits and collections so not only can you pick up an absolute bargain (loads of co-ordinating stash for under a tenner in most cases) but if you enter our competition, you could end up having made a serious dent in your photo pile!!!

NOT TO MENTION…. Free P&P for the next two weeks whilst the shop is ‘closed’ (as closed as an online shop can be anyway!)

So, to enter, all you need to do is show us how many projects you’ve made from one collection kit.  If you’re a blogger, stick it on your blog (with the info below) to show the world and then send us an email with the link to the post.  If you’re not a blogger, then just email us your piccies with the following details:

  • Which kit you used, and it’s contents and price
  • How many projects you did and what extra bits you needed (if any)
  • How long it took you
  • And of course your name, address and a little bit of info about yourself (if you feel like it!)
  • And if you’re now a ‘Kit convert’ and found this competition a breeze, or a complete challenge.

Email address for entries is: designteam@indigomill.co.uk, please put RUBY COMPETITION as your subject line

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: 11th July at 11.59pm

Once closed, we’ll whittle the entries down to those who got the most out of their kit, and then put the top five up for vote on our blog / website.  The winner will get a goody bag full of the brand new Ruby Rock-It ranges we have just brought into stock, as well as goodies from their newest release ‘Sarah-Jane’ released yesterday, and on order!

Ruby Rock-It projects…

19th June, 2009 at 8:58 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, we just couldn’t resist it and put off the holiday packing for one evening to have a little play with the brand new (and only available at Indigo Mill!) Ruby Rock-It ‘Vintage Beauty‘ and ‘Kindred Spirit‘ ranges

Vintage Beauty:

memoriesProducts used:

Vintage Beauty die-cut cardstock, American Crafts ‘Caramel’ cardstock, Dark Blue weave bazzill, Vintage Beauty ‘ATC foiled die cut transparencies’, Vintage Beauty ‘Journalling Accents’, Vintage Beauty ‘Trimmings’

Kindred Spirit:

always-eating

always-eating-closeProducts used:

Kindred Spirit stitched and die-cut cardstock, Kindred Spirit ‘Simplicity’, Bazzill Bling – Blank Check & Bright Lights, Kindred Spirit Narratives (butterfly), Kindred Spirit Die-cut glittered ATC’s, lime green satin ribbon, Kindred Spirit ‘Delightful’ (reverse side for stamped flowers) – Also used, black pen and paper piercer for faux stitching, and the title I sketched by hand.

Well, I’m glad I got a little play with them, and I’m absolutely astounded that after only a couple of days I’m having to order in re-stocks, so I hope that everyone who has ordered will let us see what they do!  I think my favourite product has to be the ATC’s – both card and acetate, they are absolutely amazing, and I’ll be ordering in a couple of sets just to make mini-albums out of with my ‘moo‘ picture stickers! (Incidentally if you haven’t tried moo, then take a look, ideal for scrappers and cardmakers!)

For now, I’ve transferred all scrummy stash playing over to our DT member Claire, who will no doubt find time over the weekend to play around with them and bring you some gorgeous projects over the coming weeks, whilst I take a long awaited break!

Oh, and whilst I’m here, there’s already a new Bella / Ruby Rock-It release, which we are ordering in with our re-stocks.  If you’re a vintage lover, then this will be for you!!

And watch our posts for a competition coming up…….

Sing-along with Max !!!

16th June, 2009 at 9:52 pm (DT designs, Product focus)

At the June retreat Steph gave a fab class using an old vinyl record to create a unique Fathers Day gift / layout… after getting over my initial shock horror that anyone could do that to a proper record (LOL) and trying to play the record I was given on the stereo that didn’t work, I finally relented and agreed to destroy my copy of  “Sing-along with Max”

As my dear Daddy is no longer with us I thought I would do my own layout with the “Proper record”. I used the very lush and very new stock that Steph received that week … Black Market Vintage Romance  papers.

These papers are great to work with and fantastic value as they are only 65p per sheet and double sided!!! The cream and brown tones went great with the pail pink acrylic I used to paint the background and worked well with the beach and sunset shots I had of my recent visit to Cornwall, all finished off with a few flowers and a title using the American Crafts Thickers.

I just love these papers and cant wait to do more with them, I think they are crying out for some heritage pics.

Claire xx
