Scrummy new Basic Grey loveliness

26th May, 2009 at 6:34 pm (Product focus, Shop info and promotions)

Here are the two mid-season scrummy releases from Basic Grey:

Junebug (Double sided!)junebug-packNot to mention, their brand new designer cardstock packs….

Anyone who knows me will know I’ve never, ever been a Basic Grey fan, but some of their most recent releases seem to be hitting the button.  I’m a huge fan of cardstock packs, or bulk purchasing, as it’s getting more expensive with each order we bring in, and you can just do so much with plain card.

If there is anything in the new ranges you particularly like, then by all means get in touch, and we’ll make sure we add it to our pre-order and happily get it ordered in for you.

Make sure you check out all the products in each range, over at http://www.basicgrey.com

Wedding one…

24th May, 2009 at 10:30 pm (Random mumblings)

… wow, after the week of drizzly, rainy gloomy weather we had all week, my lovely cousin Kate had the most amazing weather yesterday for the wedding.. only the venue hadn’t switched the heating off and I had ‘magic hold everything in pants’ on, so I was boiling!

Thought I would share a couple of pics with you…

The bride… DSC_0836

The table decorations we made:  DSC_0971

And the post box for the cards (thanks Dee!), and the readings I made ‘pretty’ for them (lol)..

Two more weddings to go, but I haven’t had much craftiness to do with them so hopefully I might get a pressie done for the bride and groom now!

On their way…

22nd May, 2009 at 8:59 pm (Uncategorized)

We have some fantastic products on their way from an Australian company called Bella!  Who also produce under Ruby Rock-It too.

Their Kindred Spirit and Vintage Beauty lines are beautiful, the papers are scrummy, let alone all the embellishments that go with it… my favourite being the ATC cards… they are going to be perfect for journalling onto!

If you’d like a sneaky peek at the papers, you can see them here on the Bazzill Matchmaker site with their respective Bazzill matches. (Whilst you’re there, have a peek round, as it’s actually a really really useful site!)

Also on it’s way is the new Vintage Romance range from Black Market Paper Society, which we’re really looking forward to, perfect for those ‘soft’ themes, weddings, holidays, babies.

Fingers crossed they’ll be with us soon…

New Basic Grey

21st May, 2009 at 5:20 pm (Product focus, Shop info and promotions)

Have you seen the two new mid-season releases from Basic Grey?

You can see them here:  Lemonade and Junebug – absolutely gorgeous, check out the tartan and weeny doggies on the junebug!!  They also have ‘woolies’ released this time, and a lot more embellies I think!

As well as that, they are also releasing ‘cardstock packs’ each double sided, and featuring their trademark ‘grunge’ look, so perfect for all you ‘grungers’ out there who want plain card, and not patterned paper!

We have the collection packs and cardstock packs on order, so keep looking out for them.

We also have the Corner Chomper on order.  I was in love with my Round It All until this little baby was released, and I can’t wait to get them in!

Scrap Happy Crop – Norwich

19th May, 2009 at 8:58 pm (Uncategorized)

Indigo Mill visited the Scrap Happy Crop in Norwich on the Saturday just gone, and had the most fantastic time!

Firstly to get back to my Norfolk roots, and hear some ‘proper talking’!!  Secondly, because all the ladies were absolute gems.  Mum came with me, and a good job she did, since she spent her first half hour sorting out the gorgeous journalling tickets for everyone – these have been a HUGE hit with everyone since we first put them on the website – and we just had a great time, chatting, laughing, and doing the odd bit of cutting and glueing here and there!

Alison and her mum were fab, and made sure we had plenty of cuppa’s, and we are looking forward to going back and visiting them again. (with the shop and without the shop!!)

Thank you so much for having us girls!  Hope all that stash is being cared for 🙂

If you’re a Norfolk girl (or guy) and looking for a fantastic group to indulge in an afternoon of crafting fun, then make sure you check out Alisons blog, and pop along to their next crop.  Hopefully we’ll see you there soon!

Wedding season begins….

19th May, 2009 at 8:45 pm (Uncategorized)

I don’t know if anyone else finds themselves in a similar place at this time of the year, but this Saturday marks the start of the ‘wedding season’ in our family, with my lovely ‘cousin-in-laws’ wedding in Derby (is that even a type of relation!?) which I absolutely can’t wait for.

Kids are being babysat, so we can enjoy the day in peace…. lovely….

However, I haven’t sorted an outfit, been far too busy helping with the crafty side of the wedding.  My to do list for the first wedding was:

1) Post Box for wedding cards / money gifts – it was bought flat, and myself and the lovely Dee decorated it some time ago

2) Make a card for my cousins mum to give to her – of course this had to be the most lovely, thoughtful and special card I could muster

3) 5 Thank you cards for Kate to give to parents and bridesmaids

4) Table decorations

5) Readings

And tonight, Kate and I have finally finished it all… I’m pretty safe to show you all the work, as they are not particularly ‘geeky’ so probably not reading this, so here we go:

Firstly – card from parents:

(The photo is printed onto the Stix2 canvas sheet, as I thought it warranted a special photo on their card)

Thank you cards for chief bridesmaid and parents:

Bridesmaids cards.  Two of them are 4 and the other is around 8, so although they are getting presents for being bridesmaids, I wanted to make them a card which would be remembered, or could be kept and treasured, so decided to make each of them a simple elastic beaded bracelet and fix it on to their card – definitely not something they could have bought in the shops!

Give me a photo and pretty paper, and I can scrap, make a mini book, anything.  Give me a card blank, and my mind goes as blank as that little bit of card.  I cannot for the life of me think of anything to do with cards, so to complete all these this weekend is a MASSIVE achievement for me, and I’m actually pretty proud of them.

Now comes the hard part…. I don’t make cards because… I’m too darn selfish, and I don’t like to give away my work!  Good job these are for a good cause, as they’ve all been taken from me now.

It’ll be pyramage for me next…… eeek!

Only two weeks on Friday until our next retreat, so we’ve been busy ordering in lots and lots of scrummy stash ready.  Including the two new Basic Grey releases coming out tomorrow… yum!  And the four most recent ones, loads of Thickers, candy dots, pebbles chips, Doodlebug alphas, MME papers, and the Corner Chomper oooo – just too much to list.

Save your pennies ladies, you’ll be needing them!

Product focus: Stix2 Adhesive Texture Sheets: Canvas

19th May, 2009 at 8:12 pm (Product focus)

We found these amazing texture sheets when ordering some of our recent stock.  I thought they looked a pretty good idea, and then I used them….

…. WOW!….

…. it’s amazing.  I LOVE having my pictures put onto canvas, but have to do it so rarely because even from Next Directory, they can work out pretty expensive, I think the smallest and cheapest is about £30.  So to discover these little A4 sheets can add the canvas effect to my scrapbook pages??  I’m in total scrapping heaven!

You can print onto them, write on them, and I’ve used mine with both black and white and colour photos on my bog standard ink jet printer.  I’ve taken some close ups to show you just how well the photos come out.

IMG_2845Colour photo of me at my friends wedding in 2006

IMG_2843Colour photo, simply converted to black and white with desaturate tool (no playing about or anything) onto the canvas sheet.

If you print pretty standard size photos, then thats 4 photos with one pack (Each pack has 2 x A4 sheets in it) for less than £4 – BARGAIN!

You can visit the shop here if you’re looking to purchase, if you’re a canvas picture lover, then you’re not going to be disappointed!

Happy Shopping

This months kit is a bit different…

5th May, 2009 at 12:14 am (Shop designs, Shop info and promotions)

… we’ve been so busy with our April and June retreats, that we just haven’t had chance to put together our usual monthly kit, so instead we’ve put together a page layout kit entitled ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Using circles throughout the page, it makes a spinning interactive page to showcase a series of 4 photos.  Excellent if you want to use more than one photo on a page, but don’t want it to be cluttered.

It costs £5 and is available in our shop here
