Thanks for applying!!

31st July, 2009 at 9:05 pm (Uncategorized)

Thank you everyone who has applied for our DT positions…. (although there are still 2 hours to go) we’ll be sifting through as speedily as we can, in between ordering new goodies!

We will be in touch with the selected scrappers shortly, if you haven’t heard anything by 10th August, then please assume that on this time you haven’t been selected, but that there will be more DT calls in the future.

Unfortunately, there are so many of you out there that are just hugely talented, so it’s going to be difficult, and I wish I could pick all of you, but I’d go mad trying to keep track!! ūüôā

Good luck everyone, we’ll announce our final team on here as soon after 10th August as we can.

It’s our SLYMI week

28th July, 2009 at 8:08 pm (Uncategorized)

Now, I know how that sounds to any non-UKScrappers out there… rather bizarre… SLYMI stands for “Scrap Like You Mean It” a weekly scrapping challenge set by the lovely Shimelle to ensure everyone makes the most of their time and keep the layouts coming.

It’s our week as guest sponsor week, and our challenge was to “Scrap your Independence” ¬†– we asked the very talented Louise Connell (xloobyx on UKScrappers) to make up our example page with the kid which we produced. ¬†In honour of our American Friends, and July being their Independence day, we made the kit red, white and blue (also the colour of the uk flag!)

This is our example layout which Louise produced, and is proudly sitting on the front page of UKS this week ūüôā

But not only did she produce this layout, but with a couple of extra bits here and there, she also came up with all of these projects from one teeny kit!!

Pretty good going there, and totally stunning work!! ¬†Thanks so much Lou, ¬†hope you’ll come back and play for us again soon!!!

And here’s the lovely lady herself….

I’m 28 years old and live in Kent with my fianc√© Ashley and our dog Todd. I’ve been scrapping for nearly 3 years and absolutely love it! My favourite manufacturer is without a doubt Sassafras, I love bright colours! Although I’ve recently discovered October Afternoon and really loving them too! My favourite subject to scrap (apart from Ash & Todd) is my childhood photos – there are absolutely tons of them and not only do I get to relive some fab memories, I get to use gorgeous, fun, girly supplies too!
I have a blog www.scraphappylou.blogspot.com (click on the layouts label to see more of my scrapping) and a UKS gallery here http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=26823

Make sure you pop by for some added inspiration!!!

Another Beer Mat Book

25th July, 2009 at 8:58 pm (Uncategorized)

beer mat bookHi there,

I¬†see that Steph said that I¬†had made some little flowers with the ” I cant believe they’re not Brads!!” so i thought i best put them on¬† a project and show them to you all. So here is a little Beer mat book made with some 8×8 papers and other bits and bobs, the small flowers on the cover are made by layering the paper brads (upside down!) and putting a candy dot in the centre.

I used the paint dabbers in shell pink and Juniper to paint the mats before covering with paper and embellishing. I used the bind-it-all and one of the new 1.1/4 bindings to bring it all together.¬† some of the pages are beer mats (only ¬£1 for 12 in the shop ) and some are made with folded papers to make pockets so that you can add bits if you want to. to make the pocket page…

1. Take a 8×8 paper and fold in half Patten side in.

2. Fold one layer from the top edge down to the bottom edge, you should now have the patten of the paper showing the right way round.

3. Fold the page in half length ways, the raw edges will be on the left of the page and held together by the binding leaving the finished edge to be the right and a pocket in the page.

Just arrived

7G-victoriaMmmmm-mmmm-mmmm….. all I have to say. ¬†I’m not normally a fan of 7Gypsies papers, they’ve always been a little dark and dismal for me, but these babies caught my eye on first glimpse! ¬†This is the new ‘Victoria‘ collection, CHA summer release, now available in the shop.

Also just uploaded is the Chatterbox ‘Fabulous’ collection. ¬†Although it’s been out for a while, this is a brand which you don’t tend to see much of nowadays. ¬†I haven’t ordered in any of the embellies, as I still think they’re a little expensive, but these are fabby papers, and perfect for all those activities your ‘bad boys’ will get up to over the summer… check them out here.

This one is my favourite:

chatt-fab-big-star

Now I’ve just got to get my head around all the new releases, and decide which to stock!!

Sneak

20th July, 2009 at 10:27 pm (Uncategorized)

Thought I’d share with you a sneak peek of a special mini-book I’m making for my brother in law and his new wife. ¬†They got married a few weeks ago, so thought I’d make them a special memento to remember their lovely day

I hope they’ll like it. ¬†I hope I’ll get it finished before their first anniversary!! LOL ūüôā

Pink Paislee Pop Fashion – LO Inspirations

20th July, 2009 at 10:25 pm (Uncategorized)

We’re having a big ol’ sale at the moment to *try* and clear a space in the office for new CHA releases…. why not come on over and help us out!! lol

Anyways, one of our biggest reductions is this Pink Paislee Pop Fashion paper… only 30p a sheet now!! ¬†And the die cut papers only 45p!

Here are some pages created using it, including a **MANLY** layout hahaha, so that you don’t think all that pink is only for girls!!

DSCF8858

DSCF8859I love these letters on this LO, plain chipboard letters covered in white gesso, stamped with a ‘vacation’ stamp in red stazon, and then diamond glazed. ¬†The piccie is a bit rubbish, they are stunning IRL!

DSCF8860

DSCF8861I’m always a fan of sticker sneeze layouts (i.e. using a whole pack of embellishments on one!) and this is no exception.. it uses some of the mini polka dot buttons we will be adding to the shop soon!

DSCF8862

DSCF8864

DSCF8863

This one has to be my favourite, although the Paislee Overlay has a window printed on it, Marie has cut most of it out so as not to hide the photo, and instead of binning it, has used the excess to punch out the flower shapes at the top of the window.  Painted on the back of the overlay, and mounted onto pink cardstock.  Silver/grey and pink Рgreat colour combo!  Flowers finished with a jewel brad and some silver liquid pearls, and done!  Page in 5 mins!

For 30p a sheet, it’s a great way to share your stories without spending a fortune! ¬†Save your pennies for all the new goodies (speaking of which, check out the new glazed bazzill in the shop!!)

Bella! Cork mini book & BMPS Vintage Romance

19th July, 2009 at 1:57 pm (DT designs, Product focus)

When I saw the fab cork mini books that Bella had to offer, I had to get them in the shop, I think they’re amazing, I know we had a bit of a thing with cork over here, but not for long, so lets try and bring it back!! lol ¬†Totally versatile, goes with any layout really. ¬†When you’re just after that little something to finish a layout, why not give these cork borders a try

Here’s a mini book Marie has made with the ‘Corkopia’ mini book, and the Vintage Romance 6×6 Paper Pack

(Mini book  Р£3.25, Vintage Romance Paper pack Р£6.99)

The Corkopia mini book is cork one side of the pages, and chipboard the other, which Marie has covered with the Vintage Romance papers. ¬†Mini pictures mounted onto bitter chocolate bazzill work are perfect! ¬†The mini book also comes with other pop-out cork shapes such as the ‘dangle’ flower on this mini book, and it’s silver book rings.

Marie has also used some “I can’t believe it’s not brads” – long name, but amazing product. ¬†You get literally hundreds of them in a single jar, and just pop them on with a foam pad, instant brads! ¬†Claire has also made amazing teeny flowers with them, which I’ll get her to pop on here when she has a second.

Why not give cork a try?

DT call – extra info

16th July, 2009 at 5:29 pm (Uncategorized)

Hi!

For all those ladies out there who don’t think they have time to be on a DT…. when we take on our team, we will be doing ‘shifts’ so you’ll work on something once every two or three months, not constantly all the time every week… otherwise it’s just too much for anyone!!
